I am using the image field to add thumbnails to my videos while using the media & media youtube modules for videos. The thumbnails show fine when viewing a single video but do not display on the playlists.

Thumbnail display is much improved in the 7.x-2.x branch and the documentation (http://drupal.org/node/1563486) shows you how you can pull in the image field. If you are still having issues, please reopen or start a new issue.
