Considering that mutual credit allows for multiple currencies, it would be really cool to be able to create an exchange rate between the currencies. It looks like there may be a start on this already. Nice mod. Good for the world.

Yes, I would like to see floating exchange rates between local currencies but this is in practice a long long way off. There's nothing to stop people doing these exchanges informally though, setting their own exchange rates and making a payment in each direction.

Please don't ask for features you don't intend to use! Cool ideas are ten a penny, but I have to concentrate on what will actually be used.

This is still not done in Drupal 7, primarily because the use cases I'm looking at don't need it.
Also because there's potentially a lot of politics around exchange rates which I don't wish to support.
