Integration with LinkedIn

I think we have discussed it, and yes, that would be great as a component of COD.

This sounds super useful. It might rely on some of the modules that exist for importing contact information and finding friends/contacts from external sites within a Drupal site.

It seems like the LinkedIn module provides the ability to synch profile data from LinkedIn to Drupal profile fields - http://drupal.org/project/linkedin

However, it also requires the OAUTH module which, in my experience, is not the most stable module on the planet.

I'm hesitant to add this feature to cod:
* It would be 2 more modules
* I'm not sure whether the majority of sites would want to use it (while most of the sites so far have been "professional" events not all of them are and not necessarily all future ones will be)
* Because OAUTH isn't super reliable

Perhaps we just make sure that the profile fields created by COD are a decent match for what LinkedIN provides and then give instructions on how to do it?

Yeah - http://www.crimsonpen.com/blog/authentication-data-mapping-viral-sharing... talks about JanRain Engage which can do this same thing for like 20 different social network sites.

That makes me feel like we should choose a single provider but suggest multiple providers in documentation.

Let's work on this in the D7 version fo COD.
