I'm using nodereference to link images to articles, and I'm wondering how to best display the images (stored in imagefields in the referenced nodes) in my article nodes, using DS/ND:
- I could use a node template for the image nodes that prints only the imagefield, and put the field in my ND lay-out using an appropriate build mode for the image nodes.
- I could write a DS code field that loads the referenced node and outputs it how I want to.
- I could do something similar with a custom formatter.
- I could use Views to create a block and use that in DS.
- ...
Any other/better/easier ways to tackle this? What would be the preferred way to go?

swentel commentedNode references should popup as a field and the formatter have all possible build modes (CCK and node reference support is with ND CCK through the nd_contrib project) . You could create a new build mode for that node type and configure it how you want it too look like. That's how we do it most of the time.

brunodboJust a quick follow up question: to link the referenced image to the referencing node (eg. thumbnails in a teaser list), should I go for a custom formatter? Or is there another way to do that?

brunodboCustom formatter it is :)

bolecha commentedSorry to reopen the issue, but I have a similar question.
What if the article is linked to several images and I want to determine the order in which the images are displayed?
How to do that?
