Hi, I read a review a while back about the Flickr integration with Drupal. Apparently, at the time, a user with a Flickr account could easily add photos to their nodes.
They were basically presented with thumbnails they could choose from?
I can't get the current module to work at all - but being a newbie, that's hardly surprising I guess. I tried using the tags, and no go - it just showed the tag as if it were text.

The module does not have a click and add type thing yet. FlickrStickr module does this. See this issue.

As to using the text, do you have the flickr_filter module enabled, and if so what exact text did you type?
