It would be much easier to be able to set the default number of rows to display, not only the number of columns.

It's easy to set the number of rows by combining the number of columns with the total number of thumbnails to show.

E.g. the following one downloads your images from a Picasa web album and it will show thumbs 150px wide, 5 in each row, and only 15 (= three rows) in total:
