Hello everyone.. I'm currently working for a client. Nearly ready, but my slideshow kills me..
On Chrome, FF, Safari it works fine, but in the IE8 it won't.

I suggest you can try this module 'views jqfx', almost the same function and settings,

but better usable and browser compatibility, I just switched from views slideshow to it.

Images don't rotate in IE8 and IE7. Fresh Drupal 7 install with the latest views and views slideshow installed.

I have the same issue - crashes the browser with IE.

jQFX does the same job and works well.

Based on #4 reopening this issue. If there is a problem with the cycler in views_slideshow it should likely be fixed here.

I'm getting the same thing.

All browsers fine, including IE7, FF 3.6, chrome , safari. IE8 hangs and then crashes out completely.

Any ideas?

I can confirm this crash as well. Only happens on Windows XP and IE8 for me. I receive an res://ieframe.dll error.

Moving this to critical as it crashes the whole site, not only pages that display the slideshow. Also as you cannot upgrade to IE9 on Windows XP.

I'd like to add into this as I am having a similar problem but we have narrowed it down a little more.

Our setup

  • OG and Spaces configured multisite with 17 sites
  • Drupal 6 w/ Views Slideshow 2.4

For us, all microsites have a homepage billboard with around 4 slides. Every microsite except for one works great. The one that has issues only errors if the billboard node contains tags in the source. I can replicate this repeatedly and it works great if I remove the span tags. Those these appear in other billboards without issue. We've tried turning off any possible javascripts on the page but it still hangs in IE8 if the billboard contains span tags.

I know my setup is D6 not D7 like everyones in this thread, but i figured I'd share that since its a similar issue and perhaps one of you make encounter the fix with removing any span tags that may be in the billboard nodes (or in your case whatever node type you use to populate the slideshow).

EDIT:

Disregard this. I fixed the issue. We have a script connection with FastFonts and once I swapped that with the CSS call, it started working just fine.

Most likely hitting the too many css files limit - enable aggregation or use a real browser (thankfully very few people are still using IE8)
