Views Slideshow
#D7CX: I pledge that Views Slideshow will have a full Drupal 7 release on the day that Drupal 7 is released, or on the day that Views is release for Drupal 7, whichever comes last.
Co-maintained by redndahead, who's largely responsible for the excellent version 2! (Try it out now!)
Views Slideshow can be used to create a slideshow of any content (not just images) that can appear in a View. Powered by jQuery, it is heavily customizable: you may choose slideshow settings for each View you create.
Potential uses
- News item slideshow (such as the title, image and teaser of the last 5 news articles submitted)
- The Last X number of X submitted (images, videos, blog entries, forum posts, comments, testimonials, etc.).
- Rotate any image, based on any filters you can apply in views.
- Hottest new products for any ecommerce drupal site.
- Rotate contact links, share links, etc.
- Heck, you could rotate entire nodes, categories, image galleries, etc. I wouldn't suggest it, but you have that power.
- Its also a great space saver. Places where you had multiple images or multiple items such as RSS feeds or category listings can now be presented in a slideshow.
The possibilities are really endless, as the more ways you can think of to categorize and add to views, the more you can rotate.
Quick Setup Views Slideshow 2.x Drupal 6
See this issue for quick setup instructions #601234: Any Guides or How-To's for making a slideshow block?
In 2.x-dev the tutorials above with screenshots are now available if you install the Advanced Help module and go to admin/advanced_help.
In 2.x there are now multiple modules you need to enable. Enable the Views Slideshow module as well as Views Slideshow Singleframe or Views Slideshow Thumbnailhover.
Quick Setup Views Slideshow 1.x Drupal 6
- Install this module and the Views module in your /sites/all/modules directory
- Enable the module at www.example.com/admin/build/modules
- Create a new view at admin/build/views/add, choosing fields and filters that select the data you want to include in your slideshow.
- Set Style to "Slideshow".
- Select settings for the Slideshow
- You can now view the slideshow as a page if you enabled the page checkbox on the view or as a block by enabling the block in your admin/build/block area.
In Drupal 5, you only have these as global settings, available at /admin/build/views/views_slideshow. However, you can override them in Drupal 5, by reading the advanced documentation on that page.
Original module sponsored by Fresno Metropolitan Museum and Advomatic.
