is there any way to block the rating to appear in each section of the generated printer-friendly "book"?

Same issue here.

In book/export/html/[NID] (link is shown on the bottom of a book navigation) - the full book is listed with all it's nodes one after the other in a printer friendly way. But in this view the fivestar rating widgets are shown inside the content. This shouldn't be the case.

OMG - I found out what's wrong.

At least for D7.

  • Go to admin/structure/types/manage/book/display (edit the display mode of the book content type).
  • Expand "custom display settings" and enable "print".
  • Go into print display mode and hide the fivestar widget.
  • Save and done.
