http://drupal.org/project/linkit provides a WYSIWYG helper to create links to nodes, views, &c. with autocomplete. A widget for link field could do something similar.

+1 for a patch ;-) I will commit it immediately.

For maintainers there is no chance in the moment since we have a code freeze for final 1.0 release. Read here why: #1269718: Blockers to a 7.x-1.0 release?

But thx 4 the suggestion tho', much appreciated! Try 2 push it forward as much as you can, we will jump in when 1.0 is finally on road.

Maybe the maintainers of Linkit, Internal Links and CKEditor Link can provide some support/cooperation for the 7.x-2.x release? Just an idea...

Any news on this? I would love autocomplete for internal urls. Having the user to either remember (ouch!) or copy paste the url and remember to remove everything but the uri (ouch!) before pasting it in isn't very user friendly.

an autocomplete for internal AND external links would be a benefit
for external it would be a benefit that the users can see if the link already exists and reduces typos like www.yahoo.com www.yaho.com
