The attached patch is a required 5.0 change. I reviewed the core function and its use in the contact.module to determine the better method to make the change. The first argument can be used as a debugging helper by creating unique identifiers to the function use. There are three calls to the function within the module, I gave a message id of 'advanced-user-mail' to all three. Do we need to change that?

some of the changes made by this patch are already commited in
http://drupal.org/node/121840

i think this can be set as fixed or closed.
