I installed the google plus one button as a block in the footer of my page (http://micro-dimensions.com), using no count, medium size, and text-align:right in the optional wrapper with CSS.
The button renders nicely, but after clicking shows a red exclamation mark.

It works for me. (I turns out blue) and it went to my +1 tab in my profile

What browser are you using?
Were you testing in the live site or in localhost?
Were you logged in your Google account?

Thanks a lot for the quick reply!

I just tested various scenarios.
The culprit was my Multifox (2.0b2) add-on for Firefox. After disabling it, the button works fine in IE, Chrome, and Firefox.
