My site at www.laudanumonline.com seems to be experiencing a problem with displaying animated and gravatar avatars.

The problem can be seen here.

Gravatars and animated forum avatars are displaying properly on other sections of the page, including blogs and posts when enabled there.

Im not sure what's causing this problem, or where to put it for resolution. It started occurring after a recent update of the advanced forum module.

If you are using imagecache presets, that will kill animation. Gravitar was integrated with Author Pane a while back and I'm not aware of any changes that would have affected the integration.

Hi Michelle. Good lead on the imagecache presets. That did it for the animation. Gravatar is however still nonfunctional. I'm using Avatar Selection as well, and have an avatar directory where they are stored specified for that module.

Could it be perchance that the two modules are incompatible?

Thanks for the work youve done on Advanced Forum. My users are finally starting to take to it after the new skins!

Gravatar integration was added some time back but I don't know a thing about Avatar Selection. Author Pane does some special things with the avatars so it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't compatible.

Unfortunately the issue was not as simple as one module interfering with another. All extraneous references to Avatar Selection, including avatar paths were removed from the system, and Avatar Selection was disabled. Gravatar is still nonfunctional on the forums.

I am using the new Cloudless Day forum theme. Im copying this issue over at the Gravatar section in case its a bug with Gravatar. I dont think so, though, considering the Gravatars seem to function well elsewhere on the site.

I changed forum themes, and the problem persists. I also noticed another problem, in that the delete/edit/reply/quote buttons disappear after the initial post, and are replaced with plain text.

The buttons appearing as text links was reported here: #1206998: Quote / Edit / Delete Icons not displaying after first thread.

Leaving this issue active for Gravatar compatibility.
