i'd like to second your idea for a WYSIWYG editor plug in - many users like the functionality of being able to use the WYSIWYGs that are available with drupal (fckeditor, TinyMCE, etc) as they aren't very confident coding in reference and text styles. This would make it easier for users to submit content and would be a great benefit for choosing drupal for collaborative and academic purposes over some of the other options out there.

Is there anything i can do to encourage you to dedicate some time to work on a plugin for a text editor? Also, there must be other users out there this feature would be of use to.

Send truck loads of cash :-) (just kidding) My time is a bit limited right now, but hopefully that will change in the coming months. What sort of functionality were you thinking of with regards to the editor plugin?

If I remember correctly, I had two thoughts on this. One was for adding footnotes or references in story or page type nodes and the other was to facilitate the creation of custom output styles.
