There is no work being done in this regard. Yet to write hook_update_N() to address the minimal schema changes introduced in quiz 7.x. I believe it wouldn't be hard as we didn't introduce much changes.

Here is a patch that I think addresses the upgrade issues and fixes the couple db problems with differences in d6 and d7 version.
