Adding /'s inside the link field gives the following error: 

An AJAX HTTP error occurred.
HTTP Result Code: 404

Additionally, a 404 Not Found
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Might be nice to ignore those and prevent the error.

This is a bug in Core, not in CKEditor Link.
This is written in the 7.x-1.2-beta1 release notes. Read them next time ;-)

Please note that, as any other module relying on D7 Core's autocomplete feature, CKEditor Link 7.x is currently affected by the following issue: #995512: Autocomplete doesn't work with slashes
