Integration with UUID module

I see that I can ask to use the GUID if it is available on the machine that I am feeding to.

If I have uuid (http://drupal.org/project/uuid) installed, is there anyway that I could use that instead of the guid?

Please correct my thinking:
The guid is the new identify for the content on the new system. We hope to keep the guid on both systems the same so we can take a look at syncing them.
I see a lot of modules are beginning to use uuid as a means to create a unique identify that can be used on multiple systems for the same node.

Just a thought.
