Is there a way to make the galleries sortable based on tags via views ? for example for a portfolio site it would be handy to have buttons with categories (fe photography, drawings etc,..) in the header
Someone know how to do this ?

Galleries are just regular nodes, so you can add fields to them and create views that display them just like you can with any node.

I haven't tried it myself specifically, but you should be able to make a view that does something like what you want (presumably using an "exposed sort" in the view).
