during one of the last updates the widget display were reset to default. Inb same time the optional choices dissapeared on my fivestar settings page at /admin/config/content/fivestar - Is that a general bug? Or just something specific on my configuration? No error log is reported about ...

Canadaka commentedI just started having the same problem! I had installed a bunch of performance related modules the last few days, I thought might have caused a problem, but I removed them all and fivestar is still broken.
Fivestar is reset to default and can't see any widget settings in admin anymore.

ericduran commentedPlease see #1253772: Can no longer enable Fivestar rating per content type this is not a bug. This is how fivestar works now.
Canadaka commentedno this is not that issue, I was already using fivestar as a field. This issue is with the global fivestar settings "admin/config/content/fivestar" as described by the issue creator.
(screenshot: http://s355.photobucket.com/albums/r469/canadaka_bucket/?action=view&cur...)
The problem with fivestar in views also started at the same time http://drupal.org/node/1268972
Comment #4
Canadaka commentedI removed all my fivestar fields from content then uninstalled the fivestar module. Then wet through the database and remove any linguring fivestar data. I then installed the newest fivestar dev release and tried going to the settings page and the problem is still there, no widget settings.
I then added a new field using fivestar and noticed that you can change the default widget in the display options.
But I then tried to add the new field to a view and I get the same ajax error here http://drupal.org/node/1268972
So I tried installing a fresh Drupal 7.8 minimal install with just the voting API and fivestar modules and I notice that the widget settings at "/admin/config/content/fivestar" are also missing here. Have they just been removed entirely?
I then install ctools and views then created a new content type with a fivestar field, no problem. Buit then created a new view and tried to add the fivestar field to the view and I get the same AJAX error as on my real site.
Nothing is added to the Drupal log.
I run IIS7 so I tried setting up a "Failed Request Tracing" on all 500 codes, but nothing was logged.
Chrome's developer tools logs "POST http://www.domain.com/admin/structure/views/ajax/add-item/test/default/f... 500 (Internal Server Error)"

ericduran commentedThis not a bug.
The widgets are now only configured either on the field settings or on the display settings, depending on the field.
The widgets are no longer on the settings page.
You do not need to use views to use fivestar. You can use the regular fields instead of using voting api to render the widgets.
If you insists on using views then you have to wait for #1224700: Remove custom views formatters to be fixed before you can use it.
This issue stays closed, as everything mention here is either not a bug/or a know issue. :)

filipnest commentedI've used Fivestar for years and this was absolutely baffling me too. I'm probably silly for missing it but it took me ages to finally notice the little config cog on the right of the display settings in the content type fields. Would it possibly be worth putting a note about where this is to be found somewhere inline on either the edit field/new field forms or on the admin/config/content/fivestar page? The current location for the widget config not being under or linked to from widget type, field settings or the normal part of display settings seems a bit counter-intuitive.
It makes perfect sense to have all the widgets/settings per field as they are now I just think it needs documenting/labels otherwise people are going to keep getting confused. Or maybe it's just me. I'm happy to help with inline documentation if you need it.

WriteCo commentedThanks Blue Jumpers! I never would have found that cog if you did not mention where to find it. It seems a bit odd to hide a required feature of a module like this one was hidden, but now I'm happy.
WriteCo commentedHah! I'm looking again for the configuration settings and I found my old post. I, however, no longer see that cog. I thought it may be related to contextual links, so I re-enabled that, but no luck.
I can *NOT* find the settings cog to change my stars. Is there a direct link somewhere? I can configure everything else, rate posts, etc., etc., yada, yada, but I cannot change the stars.
I used to be able to change stars. So I am thinking there is an unmentioned dependency to get to that functionality. What is it? It had better not be that annoying "contextual links" piece of nuisance. No offense to anyone who likes that...

ericduran commentedPlease see comment #5, if you still have issues please re-open this issue.
Also changing to support request as this is not a bug.

matt.rad commentedThanks Blue Jumpers. This was driving me nuts.
