Features: Hierarchical Select configs vs. Strongarm variables

Hi,

I'm in the process of featurising content types etc and came across the fact that HS has it's own features exportables. But there's also what looks like the exact same config in the strongarm exportables. Is there a difference between these? Is one preferred over the other?

I ask because I exported using the HS exportable one and when a workmate enabled the feature it did not use the Level Labels or Dropbox settings. Just wondering if this is a bug or not.
