I am trying to run a helpdesk system called oneorzero helpdesk with drupal. The helpdesk application is installed in a subdirectory called helpdesk. When ever I try to launch the application I receive the following error;

Fatal error: session_start(): Failed to initialize storage module: user (path: /tmp) in /home/public_html/helpdesk/common/login.php on line 45

I have tried most of the posts for modifying the .htaccess file, but no luck.

Does anyone having any suggestions on what would need to be done to use this application. I am currently using Drupal 4.5

Thank You in advance.

I am only guessing but it might be that you have to set the the
session.save_handler to something else in the .htaccess file for the helpdesk application. Drupal needs it set to "user".

we also want to integrate oneorzero with drupal. we already got oneorzero working... did you try the
admin/dbchk.php
script to check your database installation?

oneorzero helpdesk runs just fine when it is not in a subdirectory of drupal installation.

I tried the htaccess file mentioned above, that worked once but somehow is getting overwritten. Must be my hosting company?

Found this Helpdesk Application that works with drupal, and actually has more features than oneor zero Helpdesk.

You can find it Here its called exophpdesk

I realize this post is dated, but I'm on a hunt for a help desk solution. NOT a software bug tracker or the like, since those two are confused a lot in this forum. I can't believe a project like Drupal wouldn't have such a module, yet Xoops has a moderately nice one (xHelp). But your post is a gleaming ray of hope mfoster. You speak of Exophpdesk and how it worked great with Drupal. By "great with" do you mean integrated (with some sort of bridge or module) or did you mean it works pretty well independently of Drupal? If you've integrated it, please tell us how, because this is the only thing holding me back from using Drupal as I absolutely need a help desk system.

If Exophpdesk doesn't work out, I'm thinking Casetracker or Helpdesk are potential options, although Helpdesk's last development snapshot was to head back on 2006-Nov-13 (I'm not sure if it's being maintained and I've sent the maintainer an email).
