i've found some similar issues in the forums but didn't see any solution to the problem...
i have tinymce (with drupalimage plug in) and image assist installed on a 4.7 drupal. separately both work fine, i mean with just either image assist or tinymce enabled.
what's weirder to me is that they also work fine together (if img_assist tagging is set, not html tags though) but only with administrator privileges. normal authenticated users can see the camera button, can see the image assist window, can see images, can pick one, can choose appearance options but after clicking the "insert" button the image assist window closes without inserting any tag.
permissions for authenticated users and admin are exactly the same, i.e. full permissions for image and image assist.
i have no clue...

I've used tinymce and image assist happily for months, but as of this morning when I get similar behavior--but for all users including user 1. Whether using the tinymce image assist plugin, or using the add image icon below the plain text window, if I attempt to insert an image, no code is inserted, though for me it doesn't close the insert image window--just moves on to a blank screen in that window.

Support for 4.7.x is discontinued.
