Hello,
I'm currently looking in to moving a massive site to Drupal.
It consists of 18,000 static pages; split 6 ways and totals around 180 microsites - all on the same template/branding where the navigation shown is for the respective microsite and there's tabs at the top for each of the 6 main sections.
We're still trying to get our heads around Drupal and how this would work.
I assume that each microsite would be a book? I'm not quite sure how the books/taxonomy thing works.
Page for section 1
- Book 1 (microsite 1)
- Book 2 (microsite 2)
- Book 3 (microsite 3) etc
Page for section 2
- Book 1
- Book 2
- Book 3 etc
Something like this?
Just looking for summary suggestion on how you'd tackle this. I understand importing static content is easier with D6 than D7?
Thanks

There aren't really enough use case details to make a recommendation, but a couple of other options to consider would be the http://drupal.org/project/og module or taxonomy.
Taxonomy maybe a better
Taxonomy maybe a better choice with each section being a term.
not necessarily. As content import is possibly one time task, dont let this be deciding factor between D6 and D7. As the content seem to be mostly static, using D7 coupled with varnish will give you better performance.
