Hi, to show the situation I am testing:

1. Created Vocabulary 'Country'.
2. On admin/structure/domain/taxonomy page: Made sure that in "Vocabulares without domain access rules" that 'Country' is unchecked. (you have a spelling error on vocabularies btw).
3. On Basic page, created a Term reference called 'Country' using Autocomplete term widget (tagging). With Vocab: as "Country".
4. Created new content using Basic page and entered 'Germany' for Country field term.
5. Once created, if you look at Structure > Taxonomy page, the node form is creating the Term 'Germany', but is NOT creating or setting a 'Publish to' domain.

The problem is that for each term created using the tagging widget, you then have to go into each term on the Taxonomy edit page and set 'Publish to' information (which by default has nothing checked). Shouldn't the Term be set by at least the publishing domain information that is assigned to the node?

Also, if you create an Article and enter some terms in 'Tags', nothing is being assigned to the Article node either which is set NOT to follow any rules! So in both cases, it seems node edit form function isn't doing a step it needs to assign the terms correctly from what i can tell (it creates the taxonomy term(s), but doesnt assign a node 'publish to').

@Tim - I've been going through the issue queue after taking up co-maintainership of this module. I found this issue that seems to be related:

#522016: Inheriting domain settings for terms created programmatically using taxonomy_save_term()

That of course is against 6.x branch, and I am yet to walkthrough the use case you described above. But I was wondering if it is the same/similar issue. If you can confirm, I can assume that this is a "feauture request" and I can start from the patch in that issue and work it into the 7.x branch.

Thanks, I will take a look. Before I do, I need to understand the Tags functionality (Vocabs without access rules set) first with this issue http://drupal.org/node/1306646 and then can comment further on autocomplete tags with access rules and how they may inherit a base domain set from the node (as being parent).

I think this is fairly simple (for the free tagging term situation anyway):

When creating Terms using any type of free tagging on the node form isn’t it is just a matter of doing the following system:

1. The user goes to the node edit form where you have the field with an autocomplete widget for term insert.
2. If taxonomy domain access rules are set (Vocabularies without domain access rules ‘unchecked’) then:

A. Set term->domain to equal node->domain variable(s).
B. Add the Term to taxonomy with domain variables from above set.

So all that is needed is to inherit the node domain access rules and copy them into the Term rules (for insert free tags).

This seems the most logical approach because the Term you are freely adding using tagging would want to be identical to the nodes domain access rules. I’m not saying that this covers ALL cases e.g. for multiple module uses, but I am just trying to apply the logic to the specific free tag issue I am testing.

Would this solve the issue where...

I have city1.example.com and city2.example.com

A user that's logged in and using the city1 subdomain adds a node that has an autocomplete term reference in it (call it 'business'), and adds a new term (call it 'drupal')

That term will publish everywhere: city1.example.com/business/drupal & city2.example.com/business/drupal are valid links (Despite the nodes content only being published on city1.example.com)

If I change the Domain Taxonomy settings, I can manually go in and assign that individual term to a distinct domain, but I can't seem to get it to automaticaly do so. It's all or nothing.

Help?
