Inline

Important: Inline API is evolving! Developers are encouraged to test + review. Read the battle plan for background information.

Inline module allows users to display uploaded files and images inline, i.e. place links to files into a content using a simple [inline:filename.jpg] tag. The effect is a link to the file or the display of an image, depending on the file type.

Currently, Inline is the only module that allows a user to place an image or a file attachment anywhere in the content. During creation of a content, a user can simply enter the number of the attachment he likes to display inline. After submitting the content, the number is automatically converted to the appropriate filename.

Updates

  • Version 1.0: Support for image scaling with Imagecache.

Roadmap

  • v2: Development of Inline API, a generic framework to easily inline any kind of content from anywhere, consisting of plugins, widgets, buttons, etc. (From a high level view: A generic Img_assist module).
  • v3: Optimized image support, by adopting functionality of other modules that currently have to be installed separately. Namely: Upload Preview, Upload Image.

You are strongly encouraged to join those goals.

Notes

  • CCK users: Please update your CCK modules to the latest version 1.4+.
  • Inline is available for Drupal 4.7 and 5+, but actively maintained for 5+ only.

Dependencies

  • Upload module (Drupal core)
