Feed text format <br />

I'm not sure if I should be posting this here, If not here please advise me where.

I currently import xml feeds, now the body of the feed has <br /> instead of normal <br/> tags.

Now the content gets displayed incorrectly, how can I convert the <br /> to normal <br/> tags before content is saved?
