You have a couple of issues with your initial project setup.

project page
Please take a moment to make your project page follow tips for a great project page.
// $Id tag
Please remove the //$Id references. Drupal will add these automatically during packaging so your files should not include it.
README.txt
Please take a moment to make your README.txt a bit more in depth, follow the guidelines for in-project documentation.
Excessive Overhead
Remove the t() function calls from your #title and #description fields in your function node_expiration_date_menu(){ as this is an excessive overhead on the translator and is not required within menu items
Comments
I noticed a few small issues with spacing on some of your comments, maybe have a read of the Doxygen and comment formatting conventions

I have not checked your code through the Coder module yet, possibly something you could try before you next commit.

What happens on the expiration date?

How does this compare to http://drupal.org/project/date or http://drupal.org/project/scheduler ?

depending on 3rd-party modules

But isn't it a 3rd-party module? Seems like this module is duplicating the functionality of scheduler, like Greg says.

First of all thanks, it is my first module as an official project and I suppose I jumped lot of things:

@raynimmo, ok I will do carefully all those steps.

@greggles and @eosrei, in fact I did not notice the existence of scheduler module and it is really similar. Perhaps I would let this module as 3rd-party or whathever.

Thanks to all for help :-) Beginnings are difficult.
