It would be great if we could make use of the excellent work done by the Session API maintainers to allow state saving for anonymous users.

Would this feature be of use to anyone?

Issue summary: View changes

Perhaps we should check to switch this to the Drupal 8 / 9 version. But I think typically the priority is minor here and if someone needs it, he / she can provide a patch.
