Extend core performance minimum lifetime setting

I'd love to extend the core minimum lifetime setting with some options like: 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months.
If this module creates rules to expire smarter why bother killing page and other caches so often right?

Is this module the right place to implement additional options to that core setting?
