Node reference explorer does not enter the title correctly in the NR field when the title contains double quotes

NRE does not enter the title correctly in the NR field when the title contains double quotes.

I create an item with double quoes in the title, like:

Nice foo "bar" title

In another item I add this 1st item as a NR using NRE. NRE only returns

Nice foo

Instead of:

Nice foo "bar" title [node:1234]

I include 2 screenshots which illustrate the problem.

This happens with NRE 1.2. I tried installing NRE 1.3 but it doesn't seem to work on my site (big production site, shit load of modules, do not want to tinker too much).

Any suggestions for fixing this are very welcome.
