Unable to add URLs with more than 64 characters

A user sent me this link as an example of a link they couldn't make work on their site:

I had a look around the code and changed line 358 of weblinks.module to:

'#maxlength' => 255,

Is this the best way to deal with it? And if so, could it be rolled into the next release?
