When entering text in the search box on the title bar, and hit return it mearly lead to the search page without any result returned.

I have the same problem and I DO have searchable content. See http://drupal.org/node/14013 for my report.

Change the "edit[keys]" to "keys" on line 31. "edit[keys]" is used in the new search improvements in HEAD.
