Hey,

I am sorry if this sounds simple.

This module sounds perfect for a little add on for a site I am doing. I have added, enabled and followed the directions in the read me. I have configure them to be added to page content types.

I have not created and taxonomy terms for this as yet.

I then go to add a page type and don't see anything that would make it any different from a normal page. Is there something that I am missing?

Thanks and hope you can point me on the right track.

You have to create two types of content: job and resume (cv).

Then assign one or more types of content to be "job", and one or more to be "resume".

If you enable the permission "apply for jobs", then the role will see an "apply" link below the job node, and can click on it. They can then choose which resume to apply with.

An email is sent to the job posted with the applicant's details, and the application is added in the job applications queue for that poster.

I am sure I described this in the README and on the project page.

Please read it again.

You can also use views to present the job listing in any way you want.

Thanks very much for your response. I figured there may be the creation of custom content types but was not sure. I don't believe this is in the read me though. Here is the steps, in the read me, that I downloaded.

"To enable this module do the following:

1. Go to Administer -> Site Building -> Modules, and enable Job and Resume.
Optionally, if you have the Job access and Resume access modules, enable
them as well.

2. Go to Administer -> Site Configuration -> Job.
Select which node type(s) would be designated as jobs that can be
applied for.

3. Go to Administer -> Site Configuration -> Resume.
Select which node type(s) would be designated as resumes that can be
used to apply for jobs.

4. Go to Administer -> User Configuration -> Roles.
Create roles for the job seekers, and the recruiter/employer.

5. Go to Administer -> User Configuration -> Access Control.
Assign view jobs to the recruiter/employer role, and apply for jobs to the
job seeker role. Also assign view resume to the recruiter/employer role.

6. If you are using the job access and resume access modules, you have to-
set the permissions correctly. Visit Administer -> Content Management ->
Post settings and click on "Rebuild Permissions"."

Thanks again

Can you spend a few minutes revising the README, and add the steps you find missing?

This will help others who use this module.

I guess there is no discussion of creating the custom content types. Here is the whole readme file, attached - Thanks

kbahey’s picture

I know it does not have the content creation part.

I was asking you if you can add a few paragraphs detailing this, so I can include it in future README files so everyone will benefit.

Ah, sorry I just skimmed your post.

Let me give it a shot and I will send it to you. Although, being a beginner I might not get it all correct. Give me a couple of days.

This is the module I need for my School, but i cant get it works
Job seekers can't select from resumes they have created.
No email is sent to the person who posted the job, and the ?q=job/applications page has not job applications.
Thanks and sorry for my english

Hey is this module a joke?? No disprespect to you, but the module does not seem do what it says it does in the description you have provided! Your readme documentation is also VERY vague. It is very frustrating! Would it be possible for you to post a more detailed installion/setup guide please? If the module is not capable of doing what it says in the description (straight out the box) can you also add that please.

Thanks

There are sites already using this module and it does what it says.

The only extra part is the privacy for resumes.

Apart from that, you have to do your homework and use cck and views to create the content types.

The joke is when someone puts his hard work for free for others to use, and then he gets complaints. Sheesh!

It is indeed a joke when someone who clearly does not embrace the concept of open source comes along to waste time of this community and uses this website as a free advertising forum by throwing in samples to entice people to buy a plug-in !!!!

Your comment does not deserve a response, but for the benefit of others, I will.

If you care to look at my profile, you will see how many "samples" are put there to "entice people". How many such "samples" have you contributed? Those who only take, are not entitled to criticize those who give.

The only part that is not publicly released is resume privacy. This is clear in the documentation.

Apart from that, there is prerequisited knowledge for this module to work. You need to know a) Drupal, b) CCK, c) Views, and then you can install this module on top of that and it will work.

Regarding documentation, I wrote it the best I can given the time available. I have asked for patches from those willing to help. None so far.

kbahey is known to be a very valuable member of the community. And I am known to be a very grumpy man who bans those who attack contributors...

I know this is closed, but I had to comment. Thanks for creating this mod. I totally get it! It works fine for me. People should understand that there are some logical steps one must take to build it out. Incorporating other mods is an interesting concept that I'll try out. I can definitely see some feature requests to follow soon. Hopefully, you will have the time to consider them. I'm looking at the the resume archiving part, theming, privacy, etc. and other tricks.
