Trying to replace Event madule with Calendar module as I like the greater flexibilty and ability to set granularity. BUT stuck on the best way of allowing "all day events". Have setup as per "Step by Step Setup of Calendar View" http://drupal.org/node/133341 but introducing and optional "allday" field with granularity set to just Y/M/D would conflict with the [Time] field which is required and has hours and mins required.
Do I set up a seperate content type JUST for birthdays?

I am having the same Problem
Any luck resolving this?
Just because I have defined the granularity of the Date field to include hours and minutes doesn't mean that I want to define every event that way.
I am considering putting in a hack to strip off the time if the time is 11:59pm - but that's kinda ugly.
I've been extremely impressed with the config options for this module so far and I am a bit surprised that a mix of all day events and timed events wasn't considered. I must be missing something.
Don't think you are missing
Don't think you are missing anything. I find myself sticking with event module as that offers these features and integrates well with OG.

I tried Event
Not to get into all the sordid details, but I also tried the Event module and I had some problems with that. Overall, I like the "simple but strong" approach of Calendar better. Just feels a bit more solid - and that's why I am a bit surprised that the "all day" feature isn't in there.
