I've got IMCE and TinyMCE intalled on 5.1 -- and while buttons like bold, italic, underline format the text, clicking the image button does not launch the IMCE browser on my localhost.

What's strange is the same site uploaded online seems to work.

Any reason why this won't work on my localhost?

I had the same problem.
If you have a firewall installed - deactivate it. Reload the Page and try the button.
In my case it solved the problem. Or should i say... i know where to look for the problem ;)
By now i couldnt get it work localy with Norton Internet Security activated and i sure dont want do deactivate it the whole time. So if anyone knows how to configure it correctly let me know.

What browser are you using? Are you getting the same error using Internet Explorer and Firefox? If u are using Firefox on your local host, put your cursor where the icon should be and right click it. You might see some dialogue that allows u to turn off/on the java script.

This happened to me the other night when I iinstalled TinyMCE on my drupal test site which is on my laptop (XAMMP). I couldn't see the blasted icons because Firefox blocks them. All I could see was a square where the icon should be until I right clicked and unchecked the script
