When configuring the Date type (Home » Administration » Configuration » Regional and language) on dates where the date matches the number of the month, such as Feb 2nd (i.e. 2/2) it is unclear in the drop down widget which formats are MM/DD/ and which are DD/MM/. See attached screen shot for an example.

That screen is not controlled by Date module, that is handled by core. I'm going to mark this won't fix but if you want to file an issue against core you can re-open and move it to the Drupal project.
