Ship with a default set of favicons to improve performance

Is there anyway to include base set of favicons much like openid selector includes icons for providers.

It would be nice from a performance standpoint. One provider server might be down and cause your site to respond poorly.

Maybe there could be a default folder of favicons that could be used. Just a thought.
