Acting as a non-admin user I am adding a node in Polish and then its translation in English, but there is no Choose a language field in editing interface. Adding a node and then choosing Translation tab I added a translation but it is still in the same language (still in Polish). So finally I got two nodes, both marked as Polish, but one of them translated (with English content).

When I am logged in as admin everything is OK - field for choosing the language is present and translating through the Translation tab works, so I get one Polish and one translated node.

I am using version 7.x-1.3

You may have some permissions issue.

Anyway see what happens when you disable i18n (Only Drupal core translation enabled).
