Issue Summary
When I upgraded this module on my site it crashed. It flashed an error about being unable to delete a folder then it when to update.php which found no updates. It would not come out of maintenance mode I had to restore from backup. I tried again disabling cache and got the same results.

Sorry not a joke at all. I can reproduce the issue for you if you like. Thankfully the site is still in development.

Why do you think the problem is with this theme?
This is a THEME, not a MODULE as you try to describe.

because it was during the theme upgrade this issue happened. yes that is me trying to chat with you on the site

So what if it happened while you were trying to update the theme, doesnt mean the THEME was the issue. You realise the bit of code you updating is a tiny bit of code or layer in the entire stack, right? What about your server, the update system, your additional modules, etc etc? I am not about to start debugging this for you, not without 100% verifiable proof of the actual bug, but there is no such bug in this theme, look elsewhere.

thats very true but it is the first thing i would look at during trouble shooting. Sont get me wrong here im a fan and looking forward to upgrading to the business class theme before i go live. I really like the mobile layout

I will go ahead and attempt the update again and you can see the results. Ill do this now if you have a moment and are willing or I would be glad to make an appointment but i dont want to down my site for a long period.

Look somewhere else in the system, try updaing without using the automatic updater in Drupal (its crap) and read the documentation.
No, I don't have time to offer free SITE BUILDING support to people with any sort of problem such as this, this is not theme related.

very well ill try the manual update. although im a bit of a script kiddie when it comes to drupal.

This is my Fault for not properly documenting the error.
First i tried to upgrade the module using the update script (like most site owners will)
When i did i got the error "file transfer failed reason unable to remove directory ../sites/all/themes/adaptivetheme/adaptivetheme"
So I logged in manually deleted the adaptive folder and copied the new files up in its place.
then i went to update.php, that page loaded with the following errors

Then i ran the update it found no updates to make.
now my home page will not load with a 500 internal server error.
I am leaving it in this state to allow troubleshooting.

This is caused either by server permissions or folder ownership, you need to check both things and see that they comply with what is needed to complete the operation you are attempting.
The rest is because Drupal can't find Adaptivetheme in your Drupal installation, send me your FTP details in a personal email (include a link to this issue), I can take a look, the problems are probably entirely to do with permissions on your server.

I experienced exactly the same thing. When I updated. I just tried to update it manually, and even after I ran my update.php, drupal still thinks that I have the previous version.

Actually I had a major issue upgrading some modules a few days ago, I wonder if this is something to do with the auto updater or Drupal.org?

I think almost every major project now has a "I upgraded using the Drupal UI and my site blew up" sort of issue, frankly this is extremely annoying because there is nothing as project maintainers we can do about this, we just build our stuff and if your site or Drupal.org fails in some way, something could go wrong. Its basically out of my hands.

My apologies for not closing this earlier. The issue was related to varnish at the end of the day. Your attitude on the matter is out of place in the Drupal community. I've found that with one other exception, developers strive to help everyone that uses their modules or themes. The whole reason to go open source is to have a community of support. I get that It's human nature to feel defensive when someone has an issue with your work. That doesn't mean that it's not appreciated. The simple fact is that there are a lot of things that are out of your hands once you release a software project. That doesn't mean that you should refuse to provide support. Your still the most qualified resource for this project. I wish you continued success.
