I have configured Simplenews and enabled anonymous subscriptions, but the user never gets a confirmation email and as such they are never added to the list of subscribers. I'm currently running Mail System/Mime Mail in conjunction with Simplenews but I've also tried SMTP authentication and none of them seem to work.

Is there something that I'm missing? I'm happy to provide any additional documentation about my setup if need be.

Are mails by other modules sent? (e.g. password recovery)

Try enabling the mail debugging in Simplenews, it should log every sent mail in watchdog, can you see anything in recent log messages after trying to subscribe?

Are the subscribed users listed as unconfirmed in the subscriber administration?

Changing to support request unless we can actually confirm that this is a bug...

Disregard -- looks like there was some sort of delay on our server, probably due to the lack of reverse DNS since the domain name hasn't forwarded over yet. Sorry for the hassle, I'll close this ticket!
