I really need the Option to display the fields on personal contact form (ideally the ability for each user to have their own custom contact form to collect the data they need.

Will the 2.x version be ported to D7 and if so, do you have a rough timescale?

Alternatively, is there already an option for this in the 1.x version?

Yes, the port is underway.
Because its going to use Field api, the module is being re-written.

@Summit I've fixed what I could, but the module is in so bad condition, that I've decided to go with Webform. So hopefully the next person can continue on fixes further.
