access denied for all but 1st user (admin) account

I finished the site a trainee had been working on in our company. When everything was done I got an access denied for all users except my admin (the 1st user) account.

Nothing worked, I checked the permissions of authenticated users, I tried creating a new role with the necessary permissions,...

In the end I started playing with my database, replacing some of the tables that could be a problem with tables from a clean install, but also this didn't do the trick. But I noticed that there were some tables that were no longer in use that belong to the taxonomy access module.

Apparently my trainee had used "taxonomy access" on the installation and this had messed up the node access system after he disabled the module the node access table was not rebuild properly.

Then I found the following thread http://lists.drupal.org/pipermail/support/2007-February/004178.html (Thank you Greg Holsclaw)

which showed me the way to a magical button to rebuild your node access permissions table that you can find at
admin >> content management >> post settings

Click that and your node_access database should be restored. I thought I leave a trail for other people with a similar problem.

If you suspect that this is your problem and you don't get the button, reinstall and subsequently disable the taxonomy access module and you should get the button back.
