For some reason I can get meta tags quick to work on any pages I want, but with book pages I have a problem. It does not work with the path based meta tags. Nothing shows up.

update: I worked this out by not using path based meta tags for book pages, as this apparently does not work :) You have to do a meta tag for a ->content->book in order for it to work on book pages

Right, path-based meta tags don't work if it is possible to add fields to entity (and book is an entity).
Probably I should write this more clear in README

I'm doing something wrong here. I added content > book like described above. I went tot the book first page and added text into the meta description box, but it won't show when displayed.

Never mind! I didn't check that there was a custom display set for full content in the Manage Display settings. All the meta tags had be defaulted to hidden.
