There's obviously been a lot of confusion among users migrating from (the simpler) Mailhandler 1.x to (the more complex) Mailhandler 2.x. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that 1.x basically just had one component / configuration area (mailboxes) while 2.x has two or three separate components (mailboxes, importers, and sources).

I think it might ease confusion to add a "dashboard", "overview", or "wizard" screen that lists all of the components in a more unified / structured manner and hopefully clarifies what steps are needed to produce a complete importer stack.

Wait on #1562036: Display of links between command plugins and mapping sources, as it's a step in this direction... maybe instead of a centralized dashboard, just link together the various components in better ways like this.
