Description

Can anyone verify that 5.0 version of timeline works? I just upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0 and the new 5.0 version of timeline will not load. Maybe its because I upgraded an old timeline? I am not sure. Either way, I'm not in a big panic about this as I am using the timeline in a rather casual way at the moment, but I would love to get it working again.

Yes, it works. I have installed it on my servers.

Thanks. It must be a configuration issue or a problem with my upgraded site. I'll dig deeper now that I know this. I'll post if I find a solution that might help others who are upgrading.

There have been some changes in how timeline handles event end dates that could effect an upgrade. If you are using event end dates they are now autodetected so you don't need to specify them.

Also, if you browser is throwing a js error that could help with troubleshooting.

Just a quick update from a user: I have the development snapshot working great under Drupal 5x. If you add in the patch for color coding by taxonomy, you can even have more options with how you display the timeline... I'm not sure what work, if any, is needed for a complete 5x version.

I have it working, too, but have not yet tried the patches you describe above for color coding taxonomy

Ok, I had it working, but it started dropping nodes, meaning that it inexplicably stopped showing nodes that were entered into timeline. Not sure why, but i will dig into.

Very few CMSs can boast as complete a timeline module as this one (or any timeline module at all!) I certainly hope someone will continue to maintain this for 5.x and beyond.

Thanks!

Horizontal visualization is ok, Vertical doesn't work (get a Javascript error). More documentation is needed, especially on bubble field customization (change date format, field customization). Perhaps project Exhibit mantainers (a related project) can help to release an official 5.x version? Anyone ask them?

The taxonomy color patch is waiting approval from October and code reports some "todo" and "fixme" that I suppose must be solved in an official release (current date positioning is not working for me). Anyone can help?

I am using Timeline with the latest date module (the 5.2 version), and the starting focus is not working (the timeline starts on the current year -- I think-- and I have to scroll back to find anything).

bomarmonk, I just now noticed that I am having the same issue with same version (5.2). timeline starting focus is off from setting. Also, my timeline seems to have stopped tracking after a couple of months.

The developer, Arto, reports that 'initial date focus' is only partially implemented.

Title:Start the 6.1 version» Release a 5.x version

Hi,

There is already an issue for a 6.x release here http://drupal.org/node/222622

I'm changing this ticket's title back to a 5.x release

A few things:
- the focus problem named in a few posts is solved with a patch here: http://drupal.org/node/121295#comment-765474

- bug reporting (vertical javascript error) should be issued in their own bug report

- I agree with releasing a formal 5.x version (4.x is not supported anymore since 6.x is released)

I would like to propose the following approach:

  1. apply submitted and tested patches (especially the bug patches) as well for 4.7 as for the 5.x branch
  2. Make an formal 4.7 branch in CVS
  3. Merge the 5.x branch into HEAD (5.x branch will be kept)
  4. Port the 5.x version to 6.x, which should be commited to HEAD

If needed I am happy to assist where I can.

I'm subscribing also. Where is the Dev version from the project page? From the project page it appears only 4.7 exists and that there is no dev version.

Hi Jason,

You can find a link to the 5.x version on the release page http://drupal.org/node/77900/release

I haven't had time to develop this module for a while now. After talking it over with Jeff and Pete, I've requested that the Drupal.org webmasters reassign project ownership to Jeff (see #234231) who has agreed to take over the module.
