In several websites when browsing through a media gallery, the image show as thumbnails. If you then click Prev to go back to a previously viewed image, it now appears large. A straight reload of the page has the same result.

I attach the patch which solves the problem.

We had the same issue already in this queue. See #1372020: Photos display small when using lightbox / wrong lightbox size.

Which media module do you have installed? As i tested it in the mentioned issue, i think media-7.x-1.0-rc3 should fix this issue? Can you confirm that? (If not, which browser, media and drupal version do you use?)
(I think, there was also a patch for width and height attributes in drupal core >=7.10?)
