hi, i would really like to implement this module but it seems that there a few lingering roadblocks in functionality that have gone sort of quiet...is the module still under active development? is there a roadmap of any kind?

Yes, we do plan on actively maintaining this module. Our current short term roadmap is :

  1. Resolve Open Bugs and Issues
  2. Update documentation to make this more developer friendly
  3. Implement Feature Requests in the 7.x Branch
  4. Add Views and Rules Support

Please feel free to share your thoughts on how we could improve this module.

thanks for the update! i'm going to give it some thought (improvements), but out of the box it appears to do what it says

one thing that jumps to mind for 'business sites' that use this module: a custom fields option to incorporate a service like onverify.com for phone/sms confirmations (it lets you verify somebody via phone call or sms, presents unique code, user enters code - much like what banks and google do for verification steps)

came back to add another much more actionable feature request: integrate with webform! this would allow a user to click to "claim ownership" and then drive to a web form that could be completely customized to handle the details, requests, etc and manage confirmations, data analysis and results export, et al
