I came to the idea after Dries's keynote (20/03/2012), to be more continuous.

While reading please (for a moment) forget technical difficulties.
This is an out of the box idea, please read it and give your feedback...

When looking at other trending, winning software(Firefox/chrome/mobile apps) They all auto updates.
Other dying software is holding on to big releases (IE6/7/8/9).

Could we not arrange that the drupal core (or a distribution) automagically frequently updates itself?
This could more easily be done between major versions, it is too late for drupal 7 to do this, but drupal 8 might be able to do this.
It could itself get the latest security patches(in core).

In my dream drupal, also major versions are automatically pushed (with webmaster approval). With chrome (or ubuntu) like behavior. It is ofcourse required that contrib modules (by the system) can be disabled on update because of api version(or other) problems/incompatibilities, but thats the consequence of the new version.
This happens also in chrome and firefox.

This comes closer to Dries's continuous innovation than releasing new versions ever x time (I think). Because it's truly continuous.
This could also be the last drupal you ever need to install, like an OS. The magic will happen(after approving) from then (a la ubuntu).
Is it too crazy?

There's no question updating drupal should be an easier process. However, your comparison to updating a browser is completely invalid for many reasons. However, the two most salient one are, if a browser update fails 1) you've only affected one user and 2) there's very little that needs to restored, you just reinstall it.

And i doubt many webmasters would feel comfortable doing this in any case, so it would waste an extraordinary amount of effort to create while it would ended up causing more trouble than it solves and probably not be used much.
