Very fortuitous that I found this module, only added recently, and just what I need. Thanks.

Installed it and one issue I see is when the entity reference field in required, I cannot add a new item without putting a character or existing entity in first.

Thanks for the speedy response.

Added the patch but appears not to have removed the bug. Tried with dev version and same here.

If I make the ref field required and click the green +, looks the the node is re-submitting and therefore validating that field, which, of course, is empty since i'm trying to create a node to join to.

Oops it looks that my previous answer was not been saved.

So, I told that I can't anymore reproduce the issue.
I made a lot of change to answer the issue #1510116: select list so maybe these solved also the issue you have.

You can try the new "dev" release for having all changes.

If you still have the issue, please could you tell me what is the exact environnement you have, exact configuration of field and any module which can, maybe, interact with the form.
