Hi,
I want to use media gallery as a possibility for users to share/upload their content.

Is it possible to allow user uploads? I already gave users the permission to "Import media files from the local filesystem " for authentificated users, but when an user clicks "add media" I can just see the libary, but no possibility to upload files. (well i just want the opposite to happen)

Do I have to give any other permissions? Does it generally don´t work this way?

To upload a media, you need either administer media or edit media permission. Note: This permission is for all media and not for media/user.

For the 7.x-1.x release see #1
For the 7.x-2.x release you can use more premissions. See file_entity / media module.
